South America offers two of the most compelling large predator encounters on earth, in two landscapes that could not be more different from one another. For travellers who have explored Africa’s wildlife ecosystems and are ready to look further, this is where curiosity naturally points next.
Two predators, two very different landscapes
Our South America expeditions focus on two remarkable cats in two contrasting worlds: jaguars in Brazil’s Pantanal, the world’s largest tropical wetland, and pumas in Patagonia, especially around Torres del Paine’s open steppe and glacial granite.
These are not fixed departures dressed up as bespoke travel. We plan each expedition around water levels, weather, light, the rhythm of the animals and the calibre of local trackers and guides. The Pantanal and Patagonia sit at opposite ends of a continent and offer entirely different experiences of what it means to track a large predator in wild country. What they share is the same quality of attention, fieldcraft and honest planning that we bring to every journey we design.
Our role is simple: to place you in the right landscape, at the right time, with the right people beside you.
African Elephant
The African elephant is the largest land animal, known for its immense size, distinctive trunk, and prominent tusks. They are herbivores and play a crucial role in shaping and maintaining their habitats. African elephants are highly intelligent, social creatures with complex social structures.
Black Rhino
Both black and white rhinoceroses are large, thick-skinned herbivores with two distinctive horns on their heads. Rhinos are critically endangered due to poaching for their horns, which are highly valued in illegal markets. They are essential for the ecosystem and are known for their gentle demeanor.
African Buffalo
The African buffalo is a robust herbivore with a distinctive, large, and curving set of horns. They often live in large herds and are known for their unpredictable behavior, making them one of the most dangerous animals to hunt. Buffaloes are vital to the ecosystem, shaping vegetation patterns through their grazing habits.
